Old abutments by the Llynfi River
Old abutments by the Llynfi River
A view from a spot towards the northern end of a picnic area on the west bank of the river near Tondu. It is not known for certain what was carried by the bridge which these abutments once supported, or helped to support. It may be noted, though, that the only crossing of the river in the immediate area to be seen on old maps viewable online is that of a short railway which, for a period during the first half of the twentieth century, ran from a point on the main Llynfi Valley line just north of Tondu towards Coytrahên Colliery, to the east of the river.
