SD4761 : Penny's Hospital, King Street

near to Lancaster, Lancashire, Great Britain

Penny's Hospital, King Street
Penny's Hospital, King Street
Pevsner states these apartments were built by c1720, founded through the bequest of Thomas Penny.
Originally 12 apartments were built, but 2 were demolished in 1929-30, to make room for the pavement on King Street.
A chapel stands at the far end. The telephone exchange beyond rather spoils the view.
