SJ9274 : Higherfold winding hole

taken 12 years ago, near to Hurdsfield, Cheshire East, England

Higherfold winding hole
Higherfold winding hole
A winding hole just north of Higherfold Bridge. Immediately to the north of this are an overflow SJ9274 : Canal overflow and a narrowing of the canal that may have been for stoplogs, so I guess this facility was intended for turning boats if the next section of canal was stopped off.
