SP2998 : House built of Engineering Bricks

House built of Engineering Bricks
House built of Engineering Bricks
Dark blue and unweathered this house, probably about 100 years old, has been built entirely out of Staffordshire Blue Engineering Bricks. Why, is anybody's guess as they are far more expensive than ordinary bricks. This house if left alone would probably look exactly the same in 500 years' time, as these bricks are virtually indestructible and impervious to anything you throw at them. I remember trying to drill into one once and my drill-bit melted.
This is the eastern of two houses built in this way - see SP2998 : Blue brick houses west of Atherstone
