109 Princess Street, Manchester
109 Princess Street, Manchester
Superb example of Manchester's palazzo-warehouses, built in 1863-64 to the designs of local firm and one of the genre's leading exponents, Clegg & Knowles. Beautifully proportioned, red brick with restrained stone dressings, quoins, window architraves with keystones - subtly different on each floor - bracketed cornice and ground-floor arcade (SJ8497 : Detail of 109 Princess Street, Manchester). Grade II listed.
It currently houses a lap-dancing club on the ground floor and flats above.
It is one of a sequence of particularly fine warehouses on this street, each occupying a whole block.
