The Albion (3) - sign, 2 Aston Street, Wem
Albion is a poetic name for Britain and is thought to have originated from the Latin word "Albus" which means white. This may have arisen because of the white cliffs of Dover, which are the first thing people see on approaching the southeastern coast. Many ships have been named Albion, and this sign shows a picture of a sailing ship.
