Conduit Wood, Richmond Park, in January
Taken on a bright afternoon in early January.

Conduit Wood, near the north-west corner of the Park, is a plantation dating from 1829. The main species planted - at the direction of Lord Sidmouth - were oak, sweet chestnut and beech.

In this shot, the tree nearest the camera is a beech, as is the next nearest to the right. Most of the rest are oaks.

Richmond Park is a National Nature Reserve.
