Sheffield Industrial Museum - Bramah press
Joseph Bramah patented the hydraulic press in 1795 and the principles are still used in the 21st century. This one was used by the Ordnance Survey and is the only original Bramah press to survive. Its importance has been recognised by the giving of an Engineering Heritage Award by the institution of Mechanical Engineers.
