This is an Ashworth & Parker inverted vertical duplex enclosed engine that drove a paper machine and has a variable speed governing arrangement on the side away from the photographer. This is from Tovil & Bridge Mills, Tovil, Maidstone and by deduction from the Colin Bowden list is No. 496 of 1914. It is preserved al fresco round the back of this pumping station with diesel engines.
