Pavis Wood looking northwestwards
Pavis Wood looking northwestwards
A little clearing in the beech trees of Pavis Wood allows a glimpse through to more distant hills and fields. The land falls rapidly away in this direction then rises again to form Coombe Hill and the wooded slopes of Wendover Woods.
Pavis Wood
Pavis Wood lies to the west of Hastoe and contains the highest point in Hertfordshire at 248m. It is quite steeply sloping to the north falling down to about 175m over a horizontal distance of only about 300m. There are various paths within the wood, most notably along its higher ground the Ridgeway LDP. Pavis Wood merges seamlessly into Northill Wood to the SW and Dog Wood, Grove Wood and Stubbing's Wood to the NE.
