taken 6 years ago, near to Hastoe, Hertfordshire, Great Britain

Trees and leaves in Pavis Wood
The fallen leaves, mostly beech with a few oak, form a crispy brown carpet on the ground of Pavis Wood. The bare trees form a tangle of branches while lower down evergreen shrubs such as holly add a splash of green.
Pavis Wood
Pavis Wood lies to the west of Hastoe and contains the highest point in Hertfordshire at 248m. It is quite steeply sloping to the north falling down to about 175m over a horizontal distance of only about 300m. There are various paths within the wood, most notably along its higher ground the Ridgeway LDP. Pavis Wood merges seamlessly into Northill Wood to the SW and Dog Wood, Grove Wood and Stubbing's Wood to the NE.
