Ponies on the re-seeded bomb target at Leaden Hall, New Forest
Ponies on the re-seeded bomb target at Leaden Hall, New Forest
These ponies are standing on a re-seeded area which was once the concrete apron of a bombing target on the Ashley Walk range from the Second World War. The pony in the centre is the same animal shown in this photograph: SU1914 : Grazing pony on the slopes of Lodge Hill, New Forest, taken almost one year ago a short distance to the west. Ponies will tend to stay in a particular area of the Forest (their "haunt"). A few minutes earlier these ponies had been agitated by a couple of riders cantering past.
