Moss-side (2 miles south-west of Nairn) can be seen above the steep slope in the distance. The flat lowlying area between the camera position and Moss-side was the floor of a post-glacial meltwater lake at the end of the last Ice-Age. It is drained to the north-east by the Alton Burn.
