Narrowboat on the River Humber!
Narrowboat on the River Humber!
A narrowboat such as this is designed for use on Britain's Inland Waterways and is capable of negotiating locks no wider than fifteen feet (~4.5m). At this point, the River Humber is about two miles wide! This is the view from near Hull Corporation Pier close to where the River Hull meets the River Humber.

From experience, narrowboats can reach about 4mph on full throttle. At times, sections of the Humber may reach a speed of up to 10mph, so navigating this waterway in a narrowboat will not only require careful planning around the tide times, but also a great degree of adventure too!
