A corner of Pant y Lladron treatment facility near St Hilary
Glimpsed through a fence at the edge of the Vale of Glamorgan council facility located in a locked enclosure on the south side of the A48. The facility opened in 2008. It recycles waste material from highway gullies, using a reed bed filtration system.
As a by-product, clean water is produced for use in gully cleansing. Soil and other solid waste materials are also recycled. Previously, highway gully waste material had been disposed of in a landfill site.
