The centre is part of the next door Parish Church of St. John the Evangelist, and was opened in October 2001. It cost over £550,000. As well as being used by various church groups, it is also used by many community groups, and the varied facilities are available for hire for wedding receptions, meetings and the like. The main hall can seat up to 175 people in theatre style, or 150 at tables.
