The Spotted Dog (2) - Gibbs Mew lamp, Meriden Street, Digbeth, Birmingham
This is a fascinating historic artifact outside this currently closed pub. There are in fact two of these lamps on the pub's Meriden Street frontage. Gibbs Mew were a long established brewery based in Salisbury, Wiltshire. They brewed beer there from 1858 until 1997. Their estate of pubs extended far from their Wiltshire base and it would seem that at one time the Spotted Dog was one of their pubs.
