No more parking

The Carlton Road car park served motorists for many years, but no longer. The local council has agreed plans to redevelop the site (and the Beach Road area just along the way) and so new opportunities are hoped to be gained. The plans include various 'high street' retail names, a cinema, a bowling alley, restaurants and a 112-bed hotel (see ST3161 : New building under wraps). 'Scallys' pub appears to be left untouched.
