Hill slope descending from Backstone Barrow
Hill slope descending from Backstone Barrow
Backstone Barrow is a vague location on Applethwaite Common where the local high point is Sour Howes. The grassy slope is interrupted by occasional, small outcrops.
The ribbon development seen across the valley of the Trout Beck is the village of Troutbeck itself.
More distantly the snowed mountains are the Coniston Fells and the Langdale peaks.
