The Lion and the Haddock - Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh
The Lion and the Haddock - Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh
There is a clear resemblance to a lion sitting with its haunches to the right and the head (summit 251m) on the left. The steep scree gully in the centre is the 'Gutted Haddie', which now has a zig-zag path to cut down erosion and probably reduce mishaps to wandering tourists.

Geological details of the volcanic rocks are given in the chapter ‘Arthur’s Seat’ by G P Black in ‘Lothian Geology, An Excursion Guide’ by A D McAdam and E N K Clarkson (Scottish Academic Press 1986).
