A lot of investors money went into creating holes in the ground and the tips that surround them. Promotional prospectuses for the Hafod y porth mine promised the purchasers untold wealth, with the existence of as many as nine copper and lead rich lodes. These existed largely in the crooked imagination of the vendors.
