The Leamington Spa Mission
The Leamington Spa Mission
This unique piece of local architecture in George Street was built in 1828 at a cost of 1,000 as St Peter's Catholic Church. It was here that the Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III of France worshipped while on a visit to see the house in Clarendon Square SP3166 : Napoleon III's House, Leamington Spa where he had lived during his 1st exile. When the new St Peter's was completed in Dormer Place SP3165 : St Peter's, Royal Leamington Spain 1864 the church became home to the Leamington Boys' Mission. Today it is again a place of worship.
