Open Day at Five Rise Locks
Open Day at Five Rise Locks
The public were allowed into the drained locks during their maintenance. Some of the massive oak gates have been replaced after 25 years of service.

The gates weigh about five and a half tons and are made of green English oak.

To the right of the gate is a sluice and its mechanism. Water is being pumped out to keep the lock dry enough for access.
