The graves of Thomas Brown of Edinburgh, James Wood of Newmilns, Andrew Sword of Galloway, John Weddell of New Monklands and John Clyde of Kilbride who were all captured at the Battle of Bothwell Brig in 1680. How they came to be buried here can be found on this Link
"That they be carried to the Muir of Magus in the sheriffdom of Fife, where his grace the Archbishop of St. Andrews was murdered, on the 18th day of November inst., and there to be hanged till they be dead, and their bodies to be hanged in chains until they rot, and all their lands, goods and gear to fall to his majesty's use."
