Old cannon reused as mooring bollards
Old cannon reused as mooring bollards
These two guns were set into the stonework of the 1820 No. 3 drydock at Chatham Dockyard, for use as mooring bollards. They are smoothbore muzzle-loading 32 pounder cannon, slightly differing in style. Both were probably unserviceable: the further one has a badly damaged muzzle - possibly the result of battle damage. This Georgian drydock currently holds the submarine Ocelot, part of the collection of historic ships at Chatham Historic Dockyard.
