St Aldhelm's Chapel, St Aldhem's Head, Isle of Purbeck
This side of the 12th century chapel features the only opening: the doorway. Why build a chapel at such a remote location? Even in the 12th century the nearest settlement was miles away. A bit of a mystery then, the chapel fell into disrepair over the centuries and was restored in 1874.
