Parsley Hay 1967
Parsley Hay, on the LNWR Ashbourne to Buxton line, was a long way from any village but was important as a junction with the Cromford and High Peak Railway. The small settlement here was literally high and dry and had to be supplied with water by the railway. This was brought from Cromford in old loco tenders and left for the locals to access. In 1967, Parsley Hay station had gone, leaving merely a signal box to control the junction. Soon after this picture was taken, even this had succumbed. Parsley Hay is nowadays a good location from which to explore both the Ashbourne- Buxton line (Tissington Trail) and the High Peak Railway.
