Walkers in Oakwood Park, London N14
The avenues of poplar trees in Oakwood Park were planted in 1937 to commemorate the coronation of King George VI. Sadly the trees have now reached the end of their life. The avenue to the west of the Prince George Avenue entrance has already been replanted. The trees to the east are currently being removed as many are hollow and several have blown down in recent gales. Some replanting has already taken place, so hopefully the avenue will be restored.
