ST7263 : Civilians for the most part

taken 6 years ago, near to Englishcombe, Bath And North East Somerset, Great Britain

Civilians for the most part
Civilians for the most part
A group of military-straight memorials in Haycombe cemetery is in fact dedicated to civilians who were killed in the Bath Blitz of April 1942. A couple of stones name those officially occupied in the forces, but the rest (including several family members) are hapless citizens of Bath. Rick Crowley's pic of May 2011 ST7163 : Graves of people killed in Bath air raid 1942 shows a different but similar section of gravestones. See ST7263 : To those lost in the Blitz for the inscription on the tablet to the left of shot.
