Primitive Earth Dam in Yardley Hastings Parish
Primitive Earth Dam in Yardley Hastings Parish
Viewed from its south-eastern side, this primitive earthwork across a shallow valley with a NE-flowing stream is described by the RCHM as a dam, purpose and date unknown. It is marked on a parish map of 1842 though there is an earlier reference of 1760 to an adjacent field by a dam. The embankment is 190m long, pierced by the stream.
