NZ0768 : North Quarry & Crag Plantation from the north

taken 6 years ago, near to Harlow Hill, Northumberland, Great Britain

North Quarry & Crag Plantation from the north
North Quarry & Crag Plantation from the north
An earthwork within the forest plantation adjacent to the quarry had been interpreted as a possible Roman settlement or camp but no evidence was found to support this by field investigation in 1972. Hadrian's Wall passes through Harlow Hill much further to the south and below the hilltop, and a milecastle situated there would have had views mainly directed to the south, west and east.
