Town Hall, Harlow
Town Hall, Harlow
The original town hall, designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd who planned the new town development in 1947. Note the Henry Moore sculpture 'Harlow Family Group' in front of the building. Henry Moore lived and worked a few miles away at Perry Green TL4317 and this was one of his first major public works LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) .
The concrete 'banner' on the second floor is called 'Heraldic Panel' by William Mitchell LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) .
I believe this building was demolished in the early 21st century. In 1971 it was visible from just about everywhere in the new town and marked the position of The High.
