North of the end of the A1(M), the A1 Great North Road follows the course of a Roman road in a long drop down one side of a valley and up the other, running dead straight for some miles.
The road northbound towards this point, descending the other side of the long dip, can be seen in TL2237 : A1 northbound near Stotfold.
