Shatterford Bottom, New Forest
Shatterford Bottom, New Forest
Looking east across Shatterford Bottom towards the clump of trees west of Beaulieu Road station. The bright green ground cover indicates the bog, and the heather and bracken grows on the drier higher heathland. In the foreground you can see self-seeded fir trees. The sandy path has been purposely created, with a raised walkway over the marshy ground: this is fine in the summer, but can still get flooded in the wetter seasons.
