Messiah plaque in Fishamble Street, Dublin
Messiah plaque in Fishamble Street, Dublin
"This bronze commemorates the first performance of George Frideric Handel's oratorio Messiah given in the old musick hall in Fishamble Street at noon on Tuesday April 13th 1742."

The plaque is partly obscured by these rather ramshackle railings in a little side street O1534 : Fishamble Street, Dublin 2 in the Temple Bar district of the city, just south of the Liffey. The hall no longer exists, though the George Frederic (sic) Handel Hotel is nearby.
