Located next to the A36, the old turnpike from Salisbury to Southampton. The marking has been become obscured, possibly during the war to confuse invading enemy forces, but old maps marks it as Salisbury 5 and Southampton 17. There is an inverted Ordnance Survey benchmark visible at ground level on the left-hand face (see SU2024 : Inverted benchmark on milestone).
