Dùn Othail
Dłn Othail
The sea stack called Dłn Othail on the east coast of Lewis.

There is a story that a man was castrated on the orders of one of the clan chiefs on Lewis for some offence against him. In revenge he kidnapped the chief's only child and climbed up onto Dłn Othail with him. When the chief and his men approached, he threatened to throw the child into the sea unless the chief castrated himself. The chief did so, whereupon the criminal jumped off the rock with the child, shouting:

"Cha bhi oighre agamsa, agus cha bhi agadsa!"
(I will have no heir, and nor will you).
