High Scrubs - ground feature - view SE

Browns Lane leads from near Cholesbury through to Hastoe. At this point it runs between High Scrubs to the northeast and Haresgarden Wood to the southwest. For some distance it is tracked on the High Scrubs side by a sunken feature in the ground which runs parallel to the lane - in places there are at least two of these features evident. This photograph is looking along this feature. There is nothing on the maps to suggest what this is or was - it looks quite similar to the remains of Grim's Ditch (see SP9209 : Grim's Ditch - view WSW et al) so perhaps it is an ancient earthwork. Alternatively as it is parallel to the lane, perhaps it is the former course of this lane - or again it might be the result of former husbandry of the land.
