'Conservation Walks' notice above Martin Wood, Mytholmroyd
'Conservation Walks' notice above Martin Wood, Mytholmroyd
There is permissive access to the land here as part of the Environmental Stewardship scheme. This sign dates from a time when the scheme was differently named, and was administered by MAFF, the predecessor to defra. The notice states that access ends in September 2005. This notice is at an access point on a public footpath which runs along the top of the site, continuing to Hollock Lee Bottom.

According to information from Natural England (current in 2012) LinkExternal link : "Please feel free to enjoy this area of open access provided by kind permission of the landowner and supported by Natural England's Environmental Stewardship Scheme. You can wander off the public footpaths and enjoy a variety of habitats including open woodland, grassy glades and heathery slopes. From various points there are excellent views of the countryside of the Cragg Vale and Mytholmroyd area. Please note that camping and fires are not permitted and that dogs
must be kept on a lead to avoid disturbance to grazing animals and wildlife. Please also note that the site contains some steep slopes and marshy areas." The current permissive access arrangements end in 2016
