St Lawrence old church
The southern tip of the Isle of Wight has the most sun of anywhere in the United Kingdom and as a result the area was often advised in the nineteenth century as having a healthy climate for tuberculosis sufferers. Sanatoria in the area housed sufferers from the disease, quite a few of whom died there and are buried in St Lawrence's churchyard.
