William Arthur Smith Benson, a designer of the Arts and Crafts movement, designed this drinking fountain on completion of the village's piped water supply. Llangurig lay on the drovers' routes from mid-Wales to the English markets, and appropriately the fountain incorporates a drinking trough for animals.
