The post of this sign is normally in two feet of water, the pond here in Priory Gardens being the source of the River Cray. However, in Spring 2012, after a long period of low rainfall, the pond had totally dried up, as seen here.

In the background is the former Kelsey House, at the north end of Orpington High Street.
