West end of St Martin's church
West end of St Martin's church
The west end of St Martin's church is similar to the 1841 print shown in this website: LinkExternal link , however, the tower has been removed and the windows elongated. The removal of the tower, the crack in the top of the central window surround, and the huge tie-bars framed around the base of the church, all suggest that there has been settlement in this historic mining area. There is a bench mark on the door surround below the blue sign: SJ8253 : Bench mark and bolt on St Martin's church
