Roots and bole of an oak tree, near Wotton church
To the east of Wotton church the ground falls away steeply, and in the valley below there is a string of ponds, most likely a relic of the Surrey iron industry. This oak stands on the bank between two ponds.
The tree would appear to be some centuries old, and seems to be part of the engineering of the bank between the ponds, holding it together.
