The Sun sets behind the Bridgewater Monument in Ashridge at the end of a beautiful Spring day.
The Ashridge National Trust Estate
The Ashridge Estate covers a wide area of the Chiltern Hills on the Hertfordshire Buckinghamshire border, which provides open access to large woods and open grassland. There are many footpaths and bridleways - including part of the Ridgeway – and wonderful opportunities to observe wild life – including deer.
The Estate Office, Visitor Centre and Café are close to the Bridgewater Monument on Moneybury Hill, above the village of Aldbury.

A large National Trust estate LinkExternal link of beech woods and chalk downland. It is notable for the Bridgewater Monument commemorating the founder of canal navigation - his family owned the estate. There is a visitor centre and cafe near the monument, with ample car parking. There are fine views over the Plain of Aylesbury from Ivinghoe Beacon at the north of the estate. Ashridge House is a management college and is not part of the National Trust estate.
