Cardiff Tattoo
From 1964 through the 1970s and 1980s Cardiff Castle was the setting for a military tattoo to rival that of Edinburgh, the floodlit keep providing a spectacular backdrop. Here the set is being built for the 1979 tattoo viewed from the keep. The Royal Regiment of Wales (24th/41st Foot) re-enacted the defence of Rorke's Drift as part of the centenary events in 1979, probably the best known event in their history. County Councillor Berman States in a reply to a question in Jan 2012 the tattoo was stopped in the 1980s because of cut backs to the Armed Forces. However the archives list available literature for the tattoo up to 1992.
