The Hop Exchange, opened in 1868 and, designed by R.H Moore, stands imposingly on Southwark Street in Borough.
Bankside, and more specifically the area around Borough, was the centre of London's brewing industry from the 17th century onwards. The building has been meticulously and faithfully restored by Peer Group Plc, and is a unique survival in London, of a building type that was once so important in the commercial life of the metropolis in the 19th century.
It is now a hospitality venue. Link
