Bacton Gas terminal in rural setting
Bacton Gas terminal is the point where gas from the southern North Sea is brought ashore. Viewed from the south it can be seen to be in a very rural location, at odds with the industrial nature of the plant. The lie of the land hides the sea which is just beyond the horizon. Locals may not have welcomed the coming of the terminal, but at least its presence ensures continued coastal protection for their area, so long as the gas lasts.
