Robin Hood Gardens, a council housing development completed in 1972, is an example of "brutalist" architecture. In 2008, an attempt was made to get Listed Building status for the estate, but this was unsuccessful. This blocks, which are owned by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, is due to be demolished.
