This viewpoint was opened by Sorley Mclean in 1987 to the memory of the fine Novelist Neil Gunn whose many novels include "The Silver Darlings". The memorial includes inscriptions from Gunn's novels as well as information about his life. The view is towards Dingwall and the Cromarty Firth.
